A Fortune 100 company wanted to revolutionize its approach to communications via a content management infrastructure. The idea was a single source for content with a streamlined, governed workflow to store messages, content, and artifacts in one place. The client wished to define its future state by understanding how to leverage internal and external technology solutions to meet its goals. 

Approach

Clarity of vision. Focus on goals. Orchid Strategy Group was engaged to provide thought leadership and expertise to identify business needs for a Customer Communications and Content Management solution.  As with most of our engagements, we employed the Orchid Strategy Group methodology: 

  • Listen – evolved the project’s direction via information-gathering sessions with internal communications contributors, communications vendors, and technology experts

  • Learn – completed a benchmarking study regarding best-in-class corporations who leverage Content Management systems, and collaborated with key stakeholders to document the current state summary of the “content ecosystem” including critical gaps/ pain points

  • Evaluate – documented options to deliver the future state vision including the foundational structure to enable the people, process, and technology

Solution

Orchid Strategy Group prepared the business case for a Content Management platform.   

  • Prioritize - identified high-level business requirements and developed the cost-benefit analysis

  • Recommend – determined roadmap options that strategically placed the communication needs of the customer first and offered solutions for a supportive governance structure

  • Act – provided project management with a cross-functional team to determine the implementation roadmap

  • Results

The client is currently weighing roadmap options with the Officers’ Team for funding.
